Perkz locks in Zoe for his first bot lane game, steamrolls Origen and former teammate Mithy

G2 Caps looked really good in his first game of 2019.

The final game of the LEC’s first day was one of the most hyped matches of the initial week. G2 Esports, the team with the most EU LCS split victories in the region, faced off against Origen, an old fan-favorite team owned by Enrique “xPeke” Cedeño Martínez. Origen’s support Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodríguez squared off against former teammate Luka “Perkz” Perković, who moved from G2’s mid lane to the bot lane.

Despite all of the hype going into both the match and Origen’s roster, the game wasn’t even close. G2 dismantled them in every lane, and they did it with some very spicy picks. They locked in Karthus jungle and Zoe for Perkz in the bot lane. The result was a 10,000 gold lead and a very grim showing for Origen on their comeback day.

It’s difficult to pick an MVP on G2’s side, because every player completely destroyed their Origen counterparts. When G2 was knocking on the Nexus, the only players with any deaths at all were Perkz and support Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle—but Perkz ended with more kills than anyone and Mikyx’s big plays set the stage for the victory as a whole.

At the end of the game, every player except Mikyx racked up a bounty on G2. It was a difficult showing for anyone who tuned in to see Origen, because they looked totally outclassed.

With that game, the first day of the LEC’s debut season is over. G2 are now tied with four other winning teams for first place, but they won so dramatically that they’re probably still considered one of the best teams in the league.
