When Counter Logic Gaming’s tumultuous season nearly ended in the team’s relegation, team president George Georgallidis promised changes. He wasn’t posturing.

Kelby May, the League of Legends squad’s manager since early 2013, has stepped down. Matthew “Mattcom” Marikian, formerly assistant manager and art director, will take his place. He’ll be joined by a new director of finance and operations, Bryan Chen, who will help fill some of May’s responsibilities.

May isn’t the first to leave CLG in recent months. Coach Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles, who helped bring the team to Korea for a “bootcamp” before the NA LCS playoffs, parted ways with the squad after they failed to beat Team Curse in the first game of the playoffs.

May will become vice president of accounts and talent at GoodGame, the San Francisco-based esports agency representing Evil Geniuses, and Alliance, among others. The relationship could still prove beneficial for CLG, as it plans to contract with GoodGame for sponsorships as it gears up for “projected expansion.”

May has been General Manager of CLG since early 2013. Since that time, the team has made several changes but failed to reach the World Championships. After failing once more, and nearly falling from the League Championship Series altogether, it is likely that this is the first of many changes to come for the squad.
