For the first time ever, Riot Games has established League of Legends servers in the Middle East, known as the MENA server. This new server should improve ping for multiple different regions, but they will have to transfer over to take advantage of these new changes.
The MENA server has been a long time coming, especially with players having to choose different servers that were relatively far away from their home. Ping would be much higher than it had to be, and as a result, performance was dictated by forces that were mostly out of players’ control. Now, players in the Middle East can jump onto their own server for the best possible results.
If you’re eligible for a server swap, here is how to transfer your League account to the MENA server.
How to transfer your LoL account to MENA server
To transfer your League of Legends account to MENA, you must head over to the in-client store, select the Account submenu, find the Transfer to Middle East option, and complete the switch. This account transfer will only cost you one Blue Essence until Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 8pm CT. After this point, you will need to pay the full 2,600 RP price point like all other server transfers.
Should you switch to LoL‘s MENA servers?
If you’re wondering whether you should make the switch to MENA, here are all of the regions that should get positive ping changes when transferring over:
- UAE
- Qatar
- Bahrain
- Saudi Arabia
- Oman
- Kuwait
- Jordan
- Lebanon
- Egypt
- Iraq
- Iran
- Pakistan
Players can only transfer into the MENA region for now, but on Tuesday, Sept. 3, players will have the option to transfer out of the server as well. There aren’t many restrictions on who can transfer to the MENA server, with most accounts being able to switch. The only accounts that cannot move to the MENA server are those who are connected to servers in Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Brazil.
