Breath of the Wild 100 percent speedruns are getting closer to the 24-hour mark

It's only taken a couple of months.

For casual players, completing the main quest in Zelda: Breath of the Wild can take up to 40 hours. To traverse the huge world of Hyrule, fight your way through hoards of enemies, and defeat Ganon in that period of time is seen as a tremendous feat for a casual player.

Speedrunners, however, are able to do all of this and complete everything that this vast world has to offer in just over 30 hours—and that is insane.

Xalikah, a French Twitch streamer, was the first person to record a 100 percent BotW speedrun back in April, and shows no signs of stopping.

The speedrun tasks players with collecting all 900 Korok seeds, completing all 120 shrines, snapping every photograph available in the world, and upgrading every item to maximum.

After Xalikah’s original run back in April which finished at the 49 hour mark, the speedrunner set his sights on beating his own record by 10 hours. Since then, Xalikah has worked hard to improve the speedrun and has been rewarded for his efforts. His new world record is currently 33 hours and 41 minutes long.

Speedrunners believe that the run could easily fall under the 24-hour mark in the future, with new routes and glitches being found in the game on a daily basis.
