Some speedrunners are insane.
Over the weekend, players in the Super Mario speedrunning community took part in a race that tasked competitors with fully completing four Super Mario games, one after another.
The speedrun, known as the 602 stars percent race, can take up to 24 hours to complete in some instances and is a grueling slugfest that tests speedrunners’ mental and physical capabilities over a long period of time.
One speedrunner, however, went one step farther.
On top of fully completing Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy 2, the speedrunner “vallu111” decided to go overboard, adding Super Mario 3D World to the mix.
This new category, known as 982 stars percent, tasks players with finding every collectible in all five games. The speedrunner was able to do all of this in 25 hours and 34 minutes, giving him the world record.
Doing anything for over 24 hours straight can be rough, so it’s safe to say that vallu111 has earned a nice long rest after completing this incredible speedrun.
