Quake fans will be able to get their hands on Quake Champions as early as next week, developer id Software announced.

Closed beta for Quake Champions begins April 6 with an “initial group of testers,” id said. “More players will be added into the closed beta over time.” The developer did not specify exactly how big the testing pool will be, but noted that signups are still open for those interested.

When the closed beta goes live, players will be able to try out former Quake 3 Arena character Anarki, who’s got a new trailer for his appearance in Quake Champions.

One of the quickest champions in id Software’s upcoming first-person shooter, Anarki has a hoverboard to speed around the arena. His active ability, Health Injection, also just revealed by id, allows Anarki to add a little bit of max health to himself, even retaining that health boost after death.

Earlier in March, Quake Champions executive director Tim Willits also revealed that closed beta testers will be able to play on a classic Quake map when the beta begins.
