May 12, 2016 — Today at the IABDigital Content NewFronts 2016, Activision-Blizzard announced theexpansion of MLG.tv as a streaming network for eSports titles. Intheir press release Activision-Blizzard states that thisannouncement includes “the launch of new content, broadcastexperiences and distribution partnerships for its MLG.tv streamingplatform”.
Among the features andcontent announced is the Enhanced Viewing Experience (EVE),“a High-Definition video stream with built-in algorithmicsystem that provides viewers with match statistics,up-to-the-minute leaderboards and situational insights based on thecompetition they are watching.”
Veteran MLG play-by-playcommentator and former professional player Chris Puckett was alsointroduced at the digital network’s host, highlighting hisrole “produc[ing]up-to-the-minute premium highlights, interviews and newssegments” on the dailyeSports Report.
According to the press release,Activision Blizzard Media Networks will launch this content duringthe MLG Anaheim Open, a Call of Duty: Black Ops IIItournament on June 10-12. This tournament will also mark a“deeper collaboration with Facebook”, who will beoffering “a growing suite of VOD and live streamingproducts”.
In a Reddit post,Activision-Blizzard Senior Director of League Operations andEvents, Adam Apicella has confirmed that MLG Anaheim with also bebroadcast on Twitch.
