Previously unannounced until today, MLG will be hosting an online tournament for the NA, EU, and APAC regions this Sunday, Jan. 8. Adam Apicella, Senior Director of League Operations and Events at MLG, also confirmed that there will be a tournament this weekend, and that it wil be for pro points.

The tournament’s top prize is 2,000 CWL Pro Points for each player of the winning team, with second place getting 1,200 and third/fourth receiving 800. If you are in the NA region, you can sign up here, or if you are in the Europe or Asia/Pacific regions, you can sign up here and here respectively. This will definitely shake up some of the standings for the MLG Atlanta picture, as the top 10 NA teams and the top six EU teams in terms of pro points will be placed in the pool play stage. Especially so for the European picture, where several teams are floating around the Atlanta cut-off point, this early tournament could give a totally different outlook of what is to come later in February as teams scramble to qualify for pool play spots.
