How to find and defeat a dueling character with a pistol or melee weapon in Fortnite

With Fortnite’s growing number of quests, today’s pirate code challenge asks players to defeat a dueling character with a pistol or melee weapon. While the challenge might seem daunting, there’s an easy way to finish it.

Over the years, Fortnite has introduced different kinds of NPCs that provide you with valuable services and allow you to challenge them for a duel. If you win the Duel against them, you get their powerful, exclusive weapons unavailable anywhere else on the island, giving you a significant edge in your battles to secure the victory royale.

Here’s how to duel characters and use a melee weapon against them in Fortnite.

Where to find and defeat a dueling character in Fortnite with melee or pistol

The dueling characters aren’t hostile, but after you accept their invitation to duel by interacting with them, they become hostile to only you. There are two dueling characters in Fortnite, and they can be found at two major points of interest on the map:

• Oscar: Oscar is a tiger in a suit who roams in his mansion at Classy Courts. The mansion is located south of the point of interest, and you can spot the NPC on the second floor.
• Cerberus: Cerberus is one of the last Greek God companions who hasn’t left the island yet, and the angry green dog carries a mythic Shotgun at the Grim Gate point of interest. 

As the challenge requires you to defeat the dueling character with melee or pistol, you can wear it down by using the mighty weapons you have, but when their health bar is about to become flatlined, change to your pistol to finish them off by dealing the final blow with it. If you don’t have a pistol, you can whip out your pickaxes and slice them to death, as they count as your melee weapons. 

These NPCs have big health bars, so make sure to loot up and get the best weapons to take them down quickly. Sometimes, enemies wait till the boss gets you low to intercept a fight, so make sure you’re aware of your surroundings to avoid last-minute obstructions to your battle and take down the boss quickly.
