Fortnite’s update today on PS4 and Xbox One was just a fix to Save the World

The Fortnite update that all PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players received this morning fixed an issue with Save the World and didn’t change the battle royale mode at all, Epic Games has confirmed.

The company wrote that this small patch was exclusive to these two consoles and will “fix an issue which caused console players to be kicked from Save the World matches.” Fortnite: Battle Royale players had no clue as to what this update was about until Epic tweeted that statement.

The upcoming patch that should bring changes to all Fortnite game modes is the v8.50 update, which should arrive by Tuesday or Wednesday. Players will receive a full list of changes that happened to the game in the update’s patch notes, and it will bring bug fixes and gameplay alterations that will stay in the game for at least a week before Epic updates the game once more.

Any update that comes without a previous Epic announcement on Twitter or other social media platforms is almost surely a small patch to fix something. The company constantly pushes them live whenever game-breaking bugs in any game mode start happening, like it had to do with mobile to fix crashes and instability last month. When there are major issues fixed all at once, Epic might push live secondary patch notes, like it did with the v8.40.1 update three days ago.

Epic might reveal the time and date of the upcoming v8.50 update later today.
