A few Fortnite: Battle Royale players might have spotted what seems to be a new error in their game after today’s v8.11 update. When on the lobby ready to search for a match, a yellow warning sign might show up in the bottom right corner under the game mode name that reads “Limited Pool.”
One of Epic Games’ engineers that goes by the Reddit name Dan wrote that “this is a visual-only issue” and that it should be corrected next time Epic updates Fortnite.

Most players who replied to the thread that seem to be playing on the PlayStation 4. Some of them first thought it could have something to do with cross-play being disable, which would then make this “limited pool” mean that only a low number of players would be available for matchmaking, which could lead to increased queue times. Most players who got the “limited pool” message said they already had cross-play enabled, though.
Some also speculated it could have something to do with Fortnite servers limiting how many players could queue and get into matches for some reason. Others even brought the infamous skill-based matchmaking theory to the discussion, saying Epic could’ve enabled it and that meant not enough people were in the same skill level of these players to start a match.
Apparently no one had any issues with getting into matches, though. Players have only mentioned the message popping up, but there were no complaints about being locked out of matches or having extended queue times due to that warning message.
Players who are seeing the “limited pool” message in Fortnite can now be sure that it’s just a visual issue that should be solved anytime soon.
