Developer Epic Games released a new Fortnite update this morning only a day after the v8.00 update and season eight release. It seems to be the v2.06 update, which apparently is just a patch to improve the game’s stability and deploy some hotfixes.

Epic made a few posts on Twitter this morning mentioning stability issues and “an auto-run issue,” and the company said it released a new game update to fix these issues with no need of server downtime. “It will be available progressively on all platforms,” the tweet reads.

A few hours later, Epic mentioned a specific issue that was causing the pickaxe damage to be extremely low or set to zero for some players in a few matches, and that it was investigating the issue. Finally, a third tweet said text chat on the Xbox One was going to be removed for some time to improve the game’s stability.

It’s unclear exactly which of these actions are included in today’s update, or if all of them are depending on the platform. But players shouldn’t worry too much, because there are no patch notes and no mentions to gameplay changes, such as the temporary removal of an item or feature that affects how people play Fortnite. Regardless of what’s changed, it’s most likely related to improvements in stability and performance of the game due to unexpected behaviors after yesterday’s big season update.
