Some Fortnite players mistakenly unlocked the iKONIK skin—and they’ll get to keep it

Some players got a free skin.

The iKONIK Fortnite skin and Scenario emote were set to be exclusive to people that either pre-ordered or purchased the Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+ or S10e—but it didn’t go that smoothly.

The iKONIK skin was mistakenly put in the in-game store for zero V-Bucks, leading players to download what was essentially a free skin. And while some of the people who took advantage of the mistake expected their skin to disappear soon after, Epic Games has announced that they will be able to keep them.

“There was an issue with how we set up the Outfit Pack within the mobile launcher, causing it to appear for free in the store during this limited time period,” Thomas Frato, an Epic community coordinator, said in the game’s subreddit. “If you claimed it, you keep it.”

This is great news for any player who was able to snag the skin early, but it is likely a huge blow to those who bought or pre-ordered a Samsung phone and thought they’d be getting some exclusive content.

Either way, it’s probably a good idea for Epic to let this situation slide. Taking away a skin from players that bought it out of the store probably wouldn’t go over too well with the playerbase.

All players have until Dec. 31 of this year to buy an S10 and claim the iKONIK outfit, too, meaning more people will have the chance to get their own iKONIK.
