Fortnite: Battle Royale’s latest vehicle, Driftboard, will still be available in season eight, developer Epic Games has confirmed.
The company said the Driftboard will stay in the game as part of season eight’s first update tomorrow, the v8.00 update. Players should see only small tweaks to the vehicle in the patch notes tomorrow morning, at most.
Epic is probably trying to make up for the late release of the Driftboard in season seven.
The Driftboard was part of the second teaser image for season seven last year. This vehicle was supposed to have been released in the v7.10 update, which was one of the first updates of season seven, but its release was then postponed due to quality-of-life issues. Epic wanted to make sure the Driftboard would live up to the players’ expectations, so it held the vehicle’s release for several weeks.
The Driftboard was added in only last week in the v7.40 Content Update, which was the last update of season seven. Epic also included the new Limited Timed Mode Driftin’ for players to test and use the vehicle as much as they wanted in a big-team mode, but it was also available in standard playlists.
Fortnite players who like the Driftboard will now be able to use it for at least another week. Epic has yet to say how long it will keep the item in season seven, and how relevant it will be to season eight’s setting. Season seven and the Driftboard were a perfect match since we were in a snow and winter setting, but we will learn soon how good the match between the Driftboard and the new Fortnite island in season eight really is.
