We’re approaching Fortnite: Battle Royale’s season eight. There are only a few hours left before we finally get to see what the new season will be like.
And there are only a few hours left before we learn what will happen to Wailing Woods.

Players found late last night that ashes are coming out of the ground in Wailing Woods. The soil looks burned, and players can see little red and orange particles floating around themselves as smoke comes from under their feet. It looks like there’s something burning under the ground.
Another player experienced something even more drastic and saw the Wailing trees dead, with no leaves at all but still with some grass under them. But they don’t look burned, only dead for some reason that’s still unknown at this time. Other players were unable to reproduce this, though, so it might also be some kind of bug that happened to this player’s game.
This is the third time Wailing has become the place where weird events have happened at the end of season seven. It first saw cracks forming around it after earthquakes started happening on the island, and still many of the new cracks are somewhat close to Wailing. Then, the ground color began to change to what it is now, as if it is being burned.
With ashes coming out of the ground and season eight teasers mentioning fire, the theory that there will be a volcano in season eight is starting to make sense. The third season eight teaser image came with a riddle that mentioned “awaken beast of fire and ash,” so Wailing might have something to do with this as well.
We will finally get to know what Wailing Woods will be tomorrow after the v8.00 patch is released.
