How to get ready for Diablo 4 Season 5 – Season of the Infernal Hordes prep guide

Are you ready for the hordes?

Diablo 4‘s fifth season, the Season of the Infernal Hordes, is going live this week with hordes of new enemies, a wave-based Infernal Horde slaying feature, all-new Uniques and Legendaries, and an all-new questline to explore.

Before you dive into Diablo 4 Season 5 though, you’re going to want to make sure you’re all prepared for the adventure. Here’s everything you should do.

How to prepare for Diablo 4 Season of the Infernal Hordes

1) Complete the campaign

Once you’ve completed the Diablo 4 campaign, you can use the “skip campaign” feature for new characters on Eternal and Seasonal Realms. This means you aren’t gatekept in new seasons and can immediately start exploring Sanctuary—and, more importantly, sink your teeth into all the newly-release seasonal activities.

2) Unlock all regions of your map

Unlocking your map is vital to navigating Sanctuary during the season. If you’ve unlocked every major region on the Eternal Realm, at least two waypoints from these regions will then be unlocked in the Seasonal Realm.

Getting these unlocked early (read: before the season) means you won’t have to ride your horse from Kyovashad all around the map just to get to faraway places.

3) Unlock a mount

If you’ve unlocked regions and have waypoints in the Seasonal Realm, you’ll still need to travel to unlock waypoints. This is where your horse comes in handy. If you’re new to Diablo 4, your horse is unlocked by completing Doran’s Favor in Act Four of the main questline. If you’ve yet to reach this point, you must get this far and complete the campaign before the new season starts to make traversing Sanctuary easier.

4) Find all the Altars of Lilith

Find all the altars in the Eternal Realm; this will transfer to your seasonal characters. Finding these will give you bonus stats, and when you complete more map tasks—such as finding all the altars and completing the dungeons—you’ll gain extra skill points and Paragon points, all of which are vital for your character’s endgame build. Trust me, you’ll want all the extra skill points and Paragon points you can get. As this is transferrable from the Eternal to the Seasonal Realm, it makes completing all the map tasks on the Seasonal Realm much easier because it’s one less time consuming thing you have to do.

5) Decide on your class

Before you start the season, decide on your class, or at least have two in mind. As there was a PTR this season, there’s already tier lists and WoWhead predictions floating around that should help. While things will likely change once this new season goes live, these early guides indicate what classes should be overpowered in Season Five. This gives you a good place to get you started before complete tier lists and build guides come together.

While veteran Diablo 4 players have little to do to prepare for the upcoming season, there are still a few things they can do to make their journey across Sanctuary easier. This is everything you should do to prepare for the Infernal Hordes.
