Destiny 2 will buff weak Exotics, tune underused perks, and add new weapon mods in October

We hope you kept that curated Recluse.

Destiny 2 fans just got a glimpse of what may be in store for Episode Revenant. Bungie gave a small preview of what the studio’s planning in a blog post today, including buffs to Exotics and underused perks and the addition of 10 new mods.

Today’s This Week in Destiny blog post doesn’t go into too much detail about the changes, but it does name-drop a few weapons and perks that are on the list to receive a little tuning once Episode Revenant hits. The Exotics listed include Bad Juju, Ex Diris, Huckleberry, Chaperone, and the Prospector.

Traits such as Master of Arms, Slideways, Alloy Mag, and the Iron Banner-focused perks are also slated for changes. This is just a part of what’s coming, so fans may see more names on the list (fingers crossed for the one Queenbreaker user in the game).

The possible buffs to Alloy Mag may also push this niche trait into more neutral territory. It boosts reload speed when your magazine is empty, which works well with Exotics like Hawkmoon or Conditional Finality but leaves a lot to be desired on Legendary weapons.

Some of the Destiny 2 Exotics in line for buffs may not be a surprise to players. Bad Juju, for instance, has been in dire need of some tuning for years, while Prospector may as well be forgotten. Ex Diris, despite being a newer Exotic, could also welcome some tweaks. Huckleberry and Chaperone are on the more powerful side, so it may be tricky to imagine what’s in store for them.

Master of Arms being on the list doesn’t come as a shock, however. This once-dominating perk was drastically watered down when the Recluse was reintroduced with Into the Light, falling far behind the competition. Fans have been expecting tweaks to it since April, and Bungie will finally give it some juice to catch up.

This week’s Update 8.0.5 readded the attunement feature to Onslaught, which grants a boost to drop rates of a weapon of your choice. You can start farming preemptively for a Recluse with Master of Arms if you’re diving into the activity, and the curated roll received from the associated Arcite 99-40 quest already comes with Master of Arms.

In addition to the changes, Bungie revealed “a significant weapon mod rework” with over 10 new mods. This is in line with the studio’s design goals, following the removal of the near-mandatory Spec mods. Fans will likely get more information as the next episode draws near.

Destiny 2‘s Episode Revenant is scheduled for Oct. 8, based on the in-game counter, giving fans two months before they can see the changes in action. Bungie will likely release information before then, but for now, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what type of buffs, nerfs, and mods are on the way.
