In Cyberpunk 2077, you make dozens of life-or-death choices. But more often than not, you’re making that decision on behalf of someone else rather than yourself. As V, your choices have consequences, so it’s important to know what those are before you zero someone.
One of the fine folks of Night City whose fate you decide is Big Pete, whom you finally meet face-to-face at the end of the gig Big Pete’s Got Problems. While you’re guaranteed to become his most recent problem, you could also be his last.
So, what should you do with Big Pete?
Who is Big Pete?
Big Pete is a techie who works out of Autowerks in the Badlands part of Night City. He’s also the target of an assassination gig, Big Pete’s Got Problems, assigned to you by Dakota Smith when you approach the Autowerks location.
Big Pete fixes up clunkers for the Wraiths, or Raffen Shiv, but has made some powerful enemies who happen to be friends of Dakota, so he’s on the hit list.
How to find Big Pete
Autowerks is in the south Badlands section. If you’ve thoroughly explored this area, then you’ve probably unlocked the Autowerks fast travel point, which will place you right where you need to be.
There are a number of turrets, cameras, and Wraith enemies scattered around the Autowerks building that you will have to deal with in whatever way you see fit. Once you’re inside the garage, head up to the second-floor office and use the terminal to read Big Pete’s messages to his brother, Tiny Mike, about borrowing money.
After that, head through the door that’s underneath the second-floor stairs into the basement, where you will find Big Pete. He will offer to pay you if you let him go, even though he claims to be broke in messages to his brother.
Should you kill Big Pete or let him go?
You should accept Big Pete’s bribe and let him go. Doing so earns you some extra money, and it has no direct influence on any future quests or your relationship with fixer Dakota Smith; as far as she’s concerned, as long as he’s gone in some fashion, then the job is done.
If you kill Big Pete, or spare him without accepting the bribe, then the contract is still complete but you earn less money. So there’s no reason not to take the bribe and let him go. Or you can take the bribe and kill him after, if you must.
