The tournament is open to anyone, with signups now available over on SpeedGaming’s Twitter page. Qualifiers will take place from May 25 to 27 with the finalists coming together on May 28, where the winner will be crowned.

The games at the event will include the first two Sonic the Hedgehog games, Vectorman, Ristar, Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage 2, Golden Axe, Columns, and Revenge of the Shinobi.

Sega and SpeedGaming are also hosting a bonus stream on May 29 where some of the speedrunners in the community will be showing off their skills live on stream. These speedrunners will compete in Mirror Mode, where everything will be reversed in-game.

The five-day speedrunning tournament will be hosted on SpeedGaming’s Twitch Channel, starting Friday May 25th at 4pm CT.

Dot Esports has reached out to Sega for more information on the tournament, including what the prizes will be and which speedrunners will be taking part in the May 29 stream. We will update this story when we hear back.

The speedrunning tournament is not the only event that Sega will be hosting to celebrate the launch of its new game. The company has also announced a Mixer-exclusive tournament that will be streamed from May 24 at Microsoft’s flagship store in New York City.

Not much is know about the tournament at this time with only Streets of Rage and Sonic the Hedgehog confirmed as competitive titles.
