After struggling for two months since the IEM Katowice Major in March, MIBR defeated mousesports’ new lineup today to earn a spot in the semifinals of IEM Sydney.

The series started with a very entertaining brawl on Mirage, mouz’s map pick, and lasted over 30 rounds. The Brazilians changed the course of the game after a spectacular one-vs-three clutch by Marcelo “coldzera” David. The map ended 22-19 in MIBR’s favor.

On Overpass, mousesports couldn’t stop MIBR’s fearless T-side. The game ended a lot more quickly than Mirage with a 16-10 win for the Brazilians. Coldzera shined once again and showed his old form, ending the series with a remarkable 1.46 rating and 92.4 average damage per round.

MIBR will play against Team Liquid next in the semifinals, a team that they haven’t beat since October 2018 during the ESL Pro League season eight online matches.

As for mousesports, IEM Sydney was their second big LAN tournament with this new lineup led by Finn “karrigan” Andersen. Reaching the quarterfinals in Australia should be a good result alongside the team’s performance in ESL Pro League season nine, where they’ve already guaranteed a spot in the finals.

The MIBR vs. Liquid semifinal match will take place on May 4 at 12am CT.
