FaZe officially bench karrigan

Karrigan is ready to move on from FaZe already.

Finn “karrigan” Andersen announced today that he’s been benched by FaZe Clan.

The former FaZe in-game leader put out a tweet this morning saying that he’s now on the bench and that he’s accepting offers from other organizations. Karrigan added that he’ll write a longer statement regarding his move to the inactive lineup later on.

His move to the bench was an expected outcome for FaZe as the team slowly fell into mediocrity in the latter half of the year. Since their win at ESL One Belo Horizonte in June, FaZe were eliminated in the group stage in four out of seven international events.

In late September, Nikola “NiKo” Kovac took on the IGL mantle, effectively removing karrigan’s importance to the team and making him a more focused support for the European superteam. FaZe’s results improved slightly as they picked up a title at EPICENTER and placed top four at IEM Chicago, but it wasn’t enough for them to stump their European rival Astralis, who are dominating CS:GO esports.

NiKo foreshadowed karrigan’s benching in an interview with HLTV this weekend, revealing that he couldn’t say anything regarding the Danish star’s spot on the team. He did say, however, that watching Astralis win the Intel Grand Slam and not qualifying for the EPL and ECS Finals was “tilting” to the team.

The remainder of FaZe—NiKo, Olof “olofmeister” Kjajber, Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovacs, and Havard “rain” Nygaard—are now in search of a new fifth. It’s likely that they’ll pick up a support to fill the duties of karrigan because he was the support ever since the formation of this superteam.
