Despite surviving for nearly two full weeks, the final undefeated team in the CWL Pro League has finally fallen.

Midnight Esports, who went through the first four matches of the regular season without a loss, were able to upset Gen.G on Thursday, giving them their first loss of regular season.

As is the case with many of Gen.G’s series in the league, they lost the opening Hardpoint, but then won the subsequent Search and Destroy. The Control proved to be the turning point, however, and Gen.G were unable to recover in the following Hardpoint.

Although the loss is a tough way to end the week for Gen.G, it won’t be able to knock them out of first place. And it obviously works in Midnight’s favor after they struggled in their previous two matches, losing both.

While Gen.G lost their first match of the season, Evil Geniuses captured their first win with a 3-1 victory against Team Reciprocity. EG had won only four maps total heading into the match, but they nearly doubled it with Thursday’s victory.

In the other two matches on Thursday, Red Reserve swept UYU and Luminosity secured their third-straight win by defeating OpTic Gaming in an intense five-game series.

Here are the standings in Division A of the CWL Pro League (each team’s series record is followed by their map count in parentheses).

Standings

1) Gen.G: 6-1 (19-11)
2) Midnight Esports: 5-2 (17-9)
3) OpTic Gaming: 4-3 (16-13)
4) Red Reserve: 4-3 (16-10)
5) UYU: 3-4 (12-16)
6) Luminosity: 3-4 (15-16)
7) Team Reciprocity: 2-5 (10-16)
8) Evil Geniuses: 1-6 (7-19)

With the end of Thursday’s action, Division A is finished with their first batch of matches. Division B, which features eUnited, Splyce, and 100 Thieves, will begin divisional play on Monday, Feb. 18 at 5pm CT.
