Teams from North America, Europe, Australia, and Brazil converged on the MLG Arena in Columbus, Ohio to compete in the CWL Last Chance Qualifier. The event, which awarded the last 16 spots in the CWL Championship, served as the final stop before the season finale tournament.

While there were several veteran teams that were highlighted as near-consensus qualifiers, such as Lightning Pandas and Ghost Gaming, numerous international teams aimed to clinch a spot of their own.

The first team to qualify from the LCQ was an international team, too. Heretics KFC from Spain defeated Mortituri Esports to punch their tickets to the CWL Championship. They were quickly joined by Team Vitality, Elevate, and EZG Esports, who shockingly defeated top-seeded Lightning Pandas.

Arguably the best team at the event, Ghost Gaming, secured their spot shortly after EZG’s upset over Lightning Pandas. Lethal Gaming, Enigma6, and Les Blues also officially became participants in the sixth annual world-title tournament.

While Lightning Pandas struggled in their losers bracket match against GAS Gaming, the Canadian National Circuit champions survived and advanced into the CWL Championship. Morituri Esports, Team Sween, and HavoK Esports joined them with wins in their respective losers bracket matches.

The final four qualifying teams included international talent. Supremacy, Zone, Mentality Esports, and BRASH Esports became the last squads to get into the $1.5 million competition.

CoD Champs 2018 begins on Aug. 15.
