CoD fans say these are the most annoying things about the game—and it’s not cheaters

The list goes on and on.

Call of Duty has seen its fair share of weapon metas, core gameplay mechanic changes, and frustrating playstyles throughout the years. But is there anything truly worse than a riot shield and shotgun user? This is what CoD fans had to say about it.

On Call of Duty: Warzone News’ Twitter on Oct. 24, followers were asked what annoys them most about CoD. While anything to do with cheating made its appearance time and time, and time again, the amount of variety in riot shield playstyles was surprising. Riot shield and shotgun, shield and throwing knife, shield and RPG, shield with decoy grenade, claymore, trophy systems, and mines appeared in a lot of replies.

Other players said engagement-optimized matchmaking (EOMM) and “the way Call of Duty has been the past three games” were the most annoying things about CoD. Others remember the worst days of CoD with kali sticks and the noob tube

The riot shield pick is often for teams of campers “afraid to even move,” who tuck away in small buildings and line the entry points with claymores and mines, waiting for their prey to enter. Combined with dark operator skins like “black noir sitting in dark corners with doom shotguns” meant hell for players trying to boost their K/D. If it wasn’t a riot shield user, it was an LMG player who sat all game camping and shot people from afar while mounted to unlock an “ugly ass orange camo.”

With every PVP crossplay game comes the inevitable debate between controller vs. mouse and keyboard. The hate that console players get is often extreme but when that voice chat enables, you fully understand the argument against the AA 10-year-old gods.

The riot shield has been in full force since the original Modern Warfare 2 (2009) and its presence in the game wasn’t as despised as it is now. While the shield takes three hits to kill an opponent, it has the versatility to block shots and easily switch to a shotgun, RPG, and throwing knife. Double time, extra tactical, and fast hands perks paired with flashbangs and stuns made casual play a living hell for those face-to-face with a riot shield.

A thermite, drill charge, and molotov cocktail are the only viable options to take out the annoyance of a riot shield but most meta weapons and class setups use frag grenades and semtex as the optimal lethal picks. Perhaps it is time for CoD players to join arms, put on those thermites, and stick it to the riot shield man. Literally.
