The second and last Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge is now over in North America. Playing against teams led by famous streamers such as Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo and Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang, the winners were Nick Polom, Overpowered, and the former Overwatch League player Lucas “Mendo” Håkansson.
Mendo and his team, Scotts Tots, scored 120 placement points and got 296 kills to reach the winner score of 416. The team got $11,200 for the first place.
Mendo won Twitch Rivals on the same day he broke the world record for the most solo kills in Apex, just a few hours before starting his first matches. Earlier that day, he jumped into a match, dropped solo and far away from his random teammates, and got 36 eliminations in a single match, dealing 5,460 damage total. Since there’s no solo queue yet, that’s what Mendo and other players do to break world records in Apex.
Scotts Tots dominated teams with excellent battle royale players famous for their play in Fortnite and Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. For instance, DrLupo had Ali “SypherPK” Hassan and Jack “CouRageJD” Dunlop on his side, but still finished ninth out of 10 teams in the challenge.
Twitch has yet to reveal when another tournament in this series might be coming. This was the second and final tournament of this current edition. Ninja’s team won the first tournament a week ago.
We’re likely to see more news about future tournaments both from Twitch and developer Respawn Entertainment. It’s clear from the past two weeks that Apex’s playerbase really enjoys some competitive action.
