North American organization eUnited has signed three new players to its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive squad.
Alongside fragger Kaleb “moose” Jayne and Austin “Cooper” Abadir, who will become the team’s captain, three players from rival team Swole Patrol are joining eUnited’s roster.
Anthony “vanity” Malaspina will assume the role of in-game leader, which has been a point of weakness for eUnited in the past, while Victor “food” Wong and Edgar “MarkE” Jimenez will join as riflers.
“Since joining eUnited the culture has been pretty unsteady,” Cooper said in eUnited’s announcement. “With this group of players joining I can be fully confident in the roster. Vanity will bring a new perspective to calling for the team and I am very excited about the potential and the future.”
To make room for the new players, Mike “dapr” Gulino and Will “dazzLe” Loafman will be leaving eUnited. “Our organization has identified that the best option for our team is a culture shift. I am deeply saddened to have to move on from Will and Mike,” said eUnited’s general manager Daniel Clerke. The two players’ contracts won’t be renewed.
The remaining players on Swole Patrol are likely disappointed by eUnited’s roster moves since their team has yet to be acquired by an organization. The team had fleeting success in 2018, winning various minor tournaments throughout the year before multiple roster swaps led to an unpredictable standing.
The team was unable to attend major tournaments due to Braxton “brax” Pierce’s permanent ban from Valve sponsored events. Brax, formerly known as “swag,” participated in the North American match fixing scandal in 2014, when his team, iBUYPOWER, deliberately threw an online match. Since then, he and his former teammates have had difficulties holding down rosters.
“It is what it is,” Brax said on Twitter. “I’ll bounce back, I always do.”
All five players on the new eUnited lineup will now begin a “rigorous practice schedule” to prepare for the upcoming ECS, starting March 5, and the ESL Pro League, which begins on April 12.
