Team Vitality hand Misfits their first loss of the 2019 LEC Spring Split

Both teams finished week two with a 3-1 record.

One of the last undefeated teams in the League of Legends European Championship has fallen at the tail end of the second week.

In the final match of the week, Team Vitality took down Misfits in 27 minutes, ruining any chance Misfits had at a perfect split. Both Vitality and Misfits now sit at 3-1 in the LEC at the end of the second week, tied with Schalke 04 and Splyce.

Vitality mid laner Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro’s LeBlanc was instrumental in the win against Misfits, and he was accordingly named the Kia Player of the Game by the LEC broadcast following the match. His 6/0/5 statline was impressive, but the overall control of the mid lane against Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten stood out even more.

The game didn’t last long, with Misfits’ misfortunes snowballing swiftly. Vitality capitalized quickly and finished the game in under half an hour. The Vitality win marks the team’s third-consecutive victory against Misfits, including a four-game series win in last year’s EU LCS Summer Playoffs.

While the loss knocks Misfits out of a tie for first place with G2 Esports, they still only sit one game behind the leaders. Vitality are also one game behind G2 after winning both games in week two.

After a 2-0 weekend, Vitality will face two of the worst-performing teams in the LEC next week. They first meet 1-3 Origen on Friday before facing Rogue, who has lost their opening four matches, on Saturday. Misfits has a very similar week three schedule, where they’ll face 1-3 Excel Esports and a surprisingly-winless Fnatic.
