Zellsis officially replaces Golden on Cloud9 for the IEM Katowice Major

He's listed as the coach so he can play as a substitute.

Cloud9 made a few changes to its CS:GO roster so that it can field Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro at the next Valve major.

The North American organization recently submitted its roster for the IEM Katowice Major in February, and the list contains Zellsis as the team’s coach instead of Soham “valens” Chowdhury, according to HLTV. This means that he will officially be competing in place of Maikil “golden” Selim, who has been out of commission for months due to a serious medical condition related to his heart.

Valens will be sitting out the IEM Katowice Major as a result and won’t be able to provide Cloud9 with the same tactical and moral support that he’s known for. It’s unclear if he’ll continue to be the coach after the Major because the team was looking for a new coach in mid-December, and former Splyce star Kory “SEMPHIS” Friesen was considered for the role.

The roster submission, however, doesn’t mean that Zellsis is a permanent part of Cloud9’s mixed European and NA lineup. The 20-year-old is technically a part of the team as a trial player until more is certain about golden’s health. For now, Cloud9 is considered an NA team before the upcoming Major.

Cloud9’s run at the IEM Katowice Major starts on Feb. 13 at the New Challengers stage. Zellsis’ first matches with the team will be this upcoming weekend at the iBuyPower Masters IV invitational.
