How to get the Edgemaster’s Aspect in Diablo 4

More damage, more power.

Aspects are one of the most important components of builds in Diablo 4, and the Edgemaster’s Aspect is good enough that you’ve probably seen its name appear in build guides, videos, or just general chatter. And it’s not for nothing: getting the Edgemaster’s Aspect is fairly straightforward and can give you a good bump in damage.

Recommended Videos

You can use this Aspect with any class, so if you have any good rolls of it, be sure to keep them in your vault to imprint for your next character. And it’ll appear in your Codex of Power, so worst case scenario, you have quick access to its minimum roll, which can already noticeably boost your damage numbers.

Here’s how you can unlock the Edgemaster’s Aspect in Diablo 4, whether you want the base version or the most powerful roll to boost your damage even more.

Where to get the Edgemaster’s Aspect in Diablo 4?

There are two ways to unlock the Edgemaster’s Aspect in Diablo 4. You can either luck into it by finding it imprinted on an item drop or by completing a specific dungeon in Scosglen. Each of those methods has its own benefits: a simple dungeon completion is quicker and far more forgiving than being at the mercy of RNG, but extracting it from an item will give you better benefits (or at least equal if you’re unlucky).

If you’re just looking to unlock the base version (with the lowest stat), all you need to do is clear the Oldstones dungeon in the Downs in Scosglen, west of Cerrigar. The closest waypoint is the one Under the Fat Goose Inn, but Tirmair will do the trick if you don’t have that waypoint unlocked.

  • Teleport to the “Under the Fat Goose Inn” or “Tirmair” waypoints.
  • Head to the northeastern part of The Downs region.
  • Enter the Oldstones dungeon and complete it to get the Edgemaster’s Aspect.

What does the Edgemaster’s Aspect do in Diablo 4? Its effect, explained

The Edgemaster’s Aspect will boost your damage output based on how much of your primary resource—Essence, Spirit, Mana, Fury, or Energy—you have. Its bonuses range between 10 and 20 percent, with the base version from the Codex of Power granting you the minimum. You can get higher values by extracting the Aspect from an item with it, and the 20 percent bonus is a coveted roll.

The important part of this Aspect is that, based on its tooltip, its damage is multiplicative instead of additive. If your attack would deal 300 percent damage, for instance, a max-rolled Edgemaster’s would multiply that by 20 percent, giving you a total of 360 percent bonus damage (instead of 320 if it were additive).

The Edgemaster’s Aspect is compatible with:

  • One-handed weapons
  • Two-handed weapons (effect increased by 100 percent)
  • Gloves
  • Amulet (effect increased by 50 percent)
  • Rings

You can use your Murmuring Obols for potential rolls if you’re trying to roll this Aspect on a random item. Also, third-party tools can help you target-farm items and recommend you to spend your Obols on some categories that have better odds of obtaining that specific Aspect. They usually take into account most Aspects in the game, so keep them in mind if you’re ever feeling like spending hundreds of Obols.

Is the Edgemaster’s Aspect good in Diablo 4?

The Edgemaster’s Aspect is one of the most versatile, universally beneficial ways to boost a character’s power. It’s class-agnostic, meaning you can use it on anything from a Barbarian to a Sorcerer. And since keeping your primary resource topped up is an essential part of most builds, this Aspect has great benefits across all classes.

Wudijo, the first to reach level 100 on Hardcore fully solo, recommends using this in his Twisting Blades Rogue build, and we’ve also spotted plenty of good, high-level build guides that recommend Edgemaster’s Aspect on other classes. Our Bone Spear Necro has been using it to boost their (already impressive) damage output since that build relies on having high Essence to proc Aspect of Serration and Ossified Essence. We’re always at a high amount of Essence thanks to the Aspect of the Umbral and the Aspect of Exposed Flesh.

Even though this Aspect holds up well at the endgame, it can be just as essential during the leveling stage. Since it’s obtainable through the Codex, you have a cheap and reliable way to upgrade your damage, and as long as you have the gold for it, you can keep imprinting the Codex of Power version once you’ve swapped gears. While you’ll be swapping gear often as you level, only do this if you have the gold and resources, but the option is definitely on the table.
