Is Starfield available on GeForce Now?

Does Game Pass have a rival with Starfield?

Starfield may be an open-world RPG, but its available platforms are limited. So, while we can play it on Xbox and PC, you won’t be able to play it on PlayStation. But what about cloud gaming platforms like GeForce Now?

Can you play Starfield on GeForce Now?

Unfortunately, neither Microsoft nor Nvidia has announced anything specific regarding Starfield on GeForce Now. While there are some Game Pass titles on GeForce, Starfield isn’t one of them.

If Starfield becomes available on GeForce Now, though, players who perhaps don’t have a PC that meets the minimum requirements will be able to use the service to play the game (after purchasing it themselves). This is done by using the servers and hardware of Nvidia to stream the game directly to your PC via the cloud.

What is GeForce Now?

GeForce Now is a paid streaming service that allows players to use different tiers of Nvidia hardware to play hundreds of video games through the cloud. If you are a subscriber, you might notice there are very few Bethesda titles actually available.

Technically, it doesn’t cost anything to use GeForce Now, as there is a $0 membership fee for the most basic subscription. However, this only grants you access to generic hardware and one-hour gaming sessions.

The higher subscription tiers, which vary in price, give you access to better hardware, up to an RTX 4080, and much longer server sessions.

As Microsoft owns Bethesda, it’s no surprise Starfield is a day-one arrival for Xbox Game Pass. Usually, this would mean Starfield would be on that service exclusively. However, Xbox and Nvidia GeForce Now have partnered to bring Game Pass titles to GeForce Now, so it may be possible for Starfield to become available on the cloud streaming service much later.

It remains to be seen whether or not GeForce Now users will be able to stream Starfield when it officially launches on Sept. 6. There is a GeForce Now New Games Blog update on Thursday, Sept. 7, so hopefully, we’ll find out more then.
