Riot: Merch store security bug only affected a few hundred users

Users found themselves logged into the wrong accounts.

Riot Games has moved to allay concerns over the security of its merch store after users found themselves inadvertently logged into other customers’ accounts.

The issue, which coincided with the launch of the Welcome to the Jungle event, apparently affected a few hundred users in Europe, with no reports of the issue occurring elsewhere in the world.

Those users affected had access to the account information of the account they were logged into incorrectly, potentially exposing phone numbers, emails, and addresses.

Riot were keen to stress, however, that no payment or credit card information would have been available and that their store doesn’t save that payment information. External payment methods like PayPal were also equally unaffected. Only the method of payment in past orders would have been displayed.

Despite moving to reassure customers, Riot is keen to hear from anyone affected and has set up a dedicated email contact for the issue.
