Beginning in the Fractured Peaks of the Sanctuary, players can start clearing hordes from dungeons, discovering delves, completing the main story, diving into side quests, and obtaining wondrous loot from fallen enemies. And there are also Altars of Lilith to be found, which grant experience and stat boosts.

Here’s everything you need to know about the max level your Diablo 4 characters will be able to reach, as well as some tips and tricks we’ve gathered for getting there fast.

What is the max level for Diablo 4?

In an interview with GameSpot, Diablo 4 director Joe Shely and Rod Fergusson, the general manager of the Diablo franchise, commented that when the entire game is launched, players can create a character and raise their level to 100. Just by completing the main storyline, which Blizzard estimates should take around 35 hours, your character should end up somewhere between level 40 and 50. One of the game’s directors estimates it will take over 150 hours for the “average players” to reach level 100.

There’s really no fast way of reaching max level in Diablo 4; you’re just going to have to spend a lot of time questing, dungeon running, completing world events, killing bosses, and exploring. But here are some tips we’ve picked up for making the level-up process a little bit quicker:

  • Take any quest you can, and kill everything in your path. You might be tempted to use the waypoints to quick travel between story quests, but take your time to do the extra missions, including the ones that send you into dungeons.
  • Play on a higher world tier. If you can manage the difficulty, playing on a higher world tier earns you 20 percent more experience overall.
  • Always make time for activities. World events, strongholds, renown missions: All of these will earn you extra experience.
  • Keep elixirs handy. Basic elixirs like the Weak Iron Barb Elixir provide an extra five percent experience buff for 30 minutes, plus other positive effects.
