South Korean Overwatch player Ryu “Kaiser” Sang Hoon will reportedly leave RunAway.
RunAway founder Yoon “Runner” Dae-hoon announced on stream that Kaiser will step down from the South Korean team, according to a translation from Reddit user TISrobin311. Runner did not disclose the reasons for Kaiser’s departure.

The team most recently participated in the Nexus Cup 2017, where they were knocked into the lower bracket by Lunatic-Hai. In the lower bracket, RunAway faced Vici Gaming and were eliminated from the tournament after a 0-2 loss. The loss put RunAway in the bottom eight teams participating in the Chinese tournament.
RunAway was once a premier Overwatch team, however. The roster consistently placed second across premier tournaments, including the OGN Overwatch Apex season two and four, Nexus Cup Summer, and APAC Premier 2017. There was a period of time where Kaiser left the South Korean roster for North American esports organization Cloud9, but the renowned tank player returned to RunAway after only a few months away.
Despite RunAway’s success, the roster has been unable secure a championship win in a major Overwatch tournament. With Kaiser leaving the team, the roster will need to find a suitable tank player to fill his spot if they want to reclaim their spot on top.
