Liu “Mlxg” Shi-Yu, who currently plays for Royal Never Give Up, has been fined 10,000 Chinese Yuan ($1,500 USD) by the LPL for bad behavior in solo queue.
The incident itself occured in mid-November, when Mlxg was streaming himself playing League of Legends. During a match, he used discriminating words towards his teammate, reportedly calling them a “peasant/farmer,” which reflects low status in China.
The LPL concluded that Mlxg did not “subjectively insult others,” but still felt like a professional and public figure should lead by example and not make these remarks in the first place.
The player has received a fine for his comments and will not miss any matches in the LPL 2018 Spring Split, unlike LCK player Kim “Khan” Dong-ha, who was banned from one best-of-three match in the LCK by Riot Games after bad behavior in solo queue.
Royal Never Give Up had a mixed season this year. After failing to win the LPL Summer title when losing to EDward Gaming 3-2, the team managed to bounce back on the international stage and finish as semifinalists at the World Championship, losing to SK Telecom T1 3-2.
Mlxg has been essential to RNG’s success over the years, having been a part of the RNG lineup since May 2015 and winning the 2016 LPL Spring title and 2017 Demacia Cup.
