TyLoo may miss the Boston Major due to BnTeT’s absence

The Chinese team might miss their first-ever Major.

The first-ever Chinese team to qualify for a Valve Major may not be able to attend after all their hard work.

TyLoo might forfeit their ELEAGUE Major: Boston spot, according to temporary TyLoo coach Luis “Peacemaker” Tadeu. This is likely the result of the team not wanting to field Peacemaker as a stand-in at the $1 million event, which will be from Jan. 12 to 28.

Over a week ago, Hansel “BnTeT” Ferdinand announced that he won’t be attending the Boston Major because of visa issues. His visa for travel to the United States was apparently rejected—he would have been traveling from Indonesia, his home country. Despite his absence, BnTeT’s in-game autograph sticker was still put into CS:GO, likely because of his role in the team’s core five.

Right now, TyLoo’s only option is to use Peacemaker as a substitute. The Chinese team’s situation is similar to that of Team Liquid, Astralis, and SK Gaming. Wilton “zews” Prado is standing in for Team Liquid because of Lucas “steel” Lopes’ ineligibility, and similarly, Danny “zonic” Sørensen may need to stand-in for Astralis if Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz’s medical leave is extended through the Major. SK Gaming, however, must use João “felps” Vasconcellos instead of their new replacement star Ricardo “boltz” Prass.

These roster options were forced upon these teams due to unclear stipulations set by both Valve and ELEAGUE.

If TyLoo were to opt out of the Boston Major, their team slot would possibly be given to Flash Gaming, who placed third at the Asia Minor in October. It’s also unclear whether TyLoo’s in-game stickers would be replaced on the Steam community market if they decide to not attend next month’s Major.
