Gunslinger Ashe was added to Overwatch’s hero roster on Nov. 13—and now, she’s available to play in Overwatch’s Competitive Play mode. As is customary, new Overwatch heroes have a slight lag time from their addition to the game to their entrance into the competitive queue. It’s a way for players to get used to a hero before dumping her into the ranked experience.
Overwatch engineer Bill Warnecke confirmed Ashe’s addition to ranked Overwatch on Reddit. “Yep she’s live now, cheers!” he wrote in a forum thread.

Hero 29 puts an emphasis on good aim, with a versatile kit that makes her mobile and deadly. She does damage both from a ranged weapon and an area-of-effect burst damage dynamite; she should make a difference in Overwatch’s meta, but will she defeat GOATS? That’s still up for debate. Ashe’s ultimate ability, B.O.B., is unique to the hero—Overwatch hasn’t seen anything like it. He’s effectively a seventh teammate, with the ability to knock down enemies and shoot ’em with his blaster. He can be healed and contest Overwatch’s points, too.
Both characters were first introduced to Overwatch during McCree’s animated short, Reunion, which debuted at BlizzCon 2018. Fans were immediately impressed with her complex backstory and deadly aim.
But not everyone’s been having a great time since Ashe and B.O.B. were added to Overwatch’s roster. One player, called Bob, has been having a particularly hard time with all the “B.O.B., do something!” jokes. Unfortunately for him, that’ll continue into ranked now that the duo’s been unlocked.
