DreamHack Leipzig : A Review

From the 22nd to the 24th of January, DreamHack kicked off their year in Leipzig, Germany for their first-ever event in the country. Leipzig is a German city with gaming experience. Before GamesCom moved to Cologne, it was held there. This year, the city is back to hosting gaming conventions thanks to DreamHack.

DreamHack Leipzig a Total Success

“The gaming world came home“, is what DreamHack posted on their website on the first day of the event. In the end, more than 12,000 people came from 15 countries to see the competition in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Starcraft II, Fifa 16, and Hearthstone.

Live music, competitions, and education. A lot of famous YouTubers and streamers attended to meet their fans. A lot of companies presented their games, products, and offers. Three large stages gave everyone the opportunity to watch their beloved game. Everything and more was at DreamHack.The LAN-party had more than a thousand gamers playing. They transferred more than 2 gigabytes of data every second! Due to the massive success of this event, DreamHack announced that they will host another show next year in Leipzig (13th-15th of January).

DreamHack Results

The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament was the center of the event. During the match between mousesports and Dignitas, the crowd grew. The number of seats were not enough for even half of the people, but everybody was satisfied. Even when mouz lost their match against the Danish Team Dignitas, the mood did not drop.

We saw many great matches, especially the one between Luminosity Gaming and Natus Vincere, the teams in best form during the tournament who faced off in the final. The teams were close, but in the end, Na’Vi won 0:2. The scoreline might sound as if Na’Vi was completely dominant, but they were not. Both maps, Train and Cobblestone, were won in overtime after the teams reached 15-15. Na’Vi, with more experience in finals and overtimes, stayed calm while taking the maps home. So it comes that the first CS:GO 2016 DreamHack winner is Na’Vi, taking home USD $50,000.

Ptit Drog dominated Bly in a 4-1 victory in StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void, winning USD $16,000, and as we reported previously, Orange won the Heathstone tournament and $10,000. Last but not least, Dr. Erhano won the FIFA 16 Ultimate-Team-Championship.
