For those not familiar, DreamHack is one of the largest LAN organizers in the world. Founded in 1994 they have hosted some of the greatest events in Starcraft, Counter-Strike, League of Legends and more. This expansion to Smash has been part of their recent ongoing effort to incorporate more console games in their event. Recent examples of this include Call of Duty and Mortal Kombat X.

One unfortunate consequence of the timing of DreamHack’s announcement is that several pros have already committed to another event on the other side of the world during DreamHack London. HTC Throwdown,  which takes place in San Francisco, California, will feature the majority of major pros instead. The only notable player that has committed to attending DreamHack is  [Alliance] Armada, a European native and recent EVO 2015 champion. On the other hand HTC’s tournament has other legendary players such as Leffen, HungryBox, Mango, Mew2King and more headlining. HTC Throwdown will offer $10,000+ for singles and $2,000+ for doubles depending on the entry numbers.
