This season’s Call of Duty Advanced Warfare is the first title developed exclusively by Sledgehammer Games. With the addition of Sledgehammer, there are now 3 game developers that will be sharing the Call of Duty franchise in rotation. We last saw Treyarch’s Black Ops 2 in 2012 and Infinity Ward’s Ghosts in 2013. Next, the rotation will bring us back to Treyarch.

Treyarch is not new to Call of Duty, as they have developed Big Red One, Call of Duty 3, World at War, and most recently the two Black Ops games. What will they have in store for us this fall? https://twitter.com/Lo9ics/status/558351924555436034 There are rumors that World at War 2 will be the next Call of Duty game. This would be a huge shift in the franchise, as the last few titles have all been based in the present day or future. We are currently playing Advanced Warfare, where special exo-abilities allow us to jump around like crazy. The game is very fast-paced, I can only imagine that players transitioning from Advanced Warfare to World at War 2 will have a tough time! However, according to this article, the news about World at War 2 is fake. It states that the image in the tweet above was manufactured for popularity on Twitter and nothing more. Fooled me! So what might we expect in the fall? According to some, Black Ops 3 is not out of the picture. The Black Ops series have been extremely popular, especially in the competitive Call of Duty community. There is no guarantee that elements in Advanced Warfare will be seen in next years game, but a futuristic setting seems more likely. With a 3 year rotation, developers have plenty of time to bring us a great game. Treyarch succeeded last time, let’s hope they can do it again!
