The tight-knit world of competitive fighting games said goodbye to one of its own this morning after a player suddenly collapsed during a weekly tournament in Walnut, Calif.

Killer Instinct player Terrance “PushaTee88” Moore was participating in Super Arcade’s weekly Thursday night tournament, The Runback, when witnesses say he collapsed onto a chair before falling to the floor unconscious. Super Arcade immediately canceled the event and cleared the venue.

Emergency personnel arrived quickly on the scene and rushed Moore to a nearby hospital. A few hours later, Super Arcade announced that the player had passed away.

The incident has rocked the fighting games community, with professional players and broadcasters alike mourning the young player’s death. Here’s Evil Geniuses fighting games player Ricky Ortiz:

Moore is survived by his wife and two children. Super Arcade announced earlier that their regular Friday event, Console Casuals will be streamed on Twitch, with all donations and money from wristband purchases going to cover funeral costs. In addition, Reddit community r/Kappa has set up a donation page to help Moore’s family. The cause of death has yet be to be announced.

Moore’s good friend, Brian “MrGrimmmz” Rincon, posted an emotional video to YouTube earlier today. “We had just a great, great, time” he says. 

“Sometimes life is just not fair.”
