LGD Gaming has supported multiple Dota 2 teams in the past, and its main roster has long been among the premier teams in China. The organization previously ran an international team and more recently created a team made up entirely of players brought up through its developmental system.

Originating from the Chinese Dota Elite Community, the team played under the name LGD CDEC and met with little success upon its formation.

But recent times have been better. Former LGD Gaming member Lu “Maybe” Yao and his teammates continued to gel together through the annual chaos that comes about as a result of The International. LGD CDEC managed to place in the top eight at two big events in September, the World Esport Championships and I-League final. The performances landed the teams with only small amounts of prize money, but showed great promise for the future.

The team will now pursue that future without the organization that set them on their current path. And they won’t be doing it alone. The Players will now perform under the banner of the newly minted organization CDEC Gaming, which will be sponsored by Chinese site Douyu TV.

Douyu is a Chinese streaming service, and their link to the Dota 2 community is a natural one. Now they’ll be directly invested in the professional scene.

The break between LGD Gaming and CDEC appears to have been pleasant. LGD announced the move on its own Facebook page and wished the new team luck in their endeavors.

CDEC Gaming has already made their mark, as the team just triumphed over the main LGD Gaming squad in The Summit’s Chinese qualifier.
