Twitch pulled over 1% of all internet traffic earlier this year, which would be a huge reason why a company such as Amazon would agree to acquire the video streaming company. That is an astounding amount of viewers and an incredible opportunity to expand into the gaming community.

Amazon founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos, said, “Broadcasting and watching gameplay is a global phenomenon and Twitch has built a platform that brings together tens of millions of people who watch billions of minutes of games each month,” Personally I think this is a win on both ends of the stick due to the fact that partnered streamers on Twitch will become associates of Amazon, allowing them more opportunities to increase revenue by referring viewers to Amazon. This could also lead to an increase of gaming related purchases through the mega-company’s website. While the details of what this deal means for the world’s largest streaming website are uncertain, we should definitely see some changes now that Twitch has the resources to do what they want.
