The Marvel vs. Capcom series has long been known for its long and flashy combos, which do big damage while rendering opponents incapable of resisting. But this match video might just surprise even those already familiar with the franchise.
Xanadu Games regularly hosts fighting game tournaments at their Baltimore location, and one match from a recent tourney has been making the rounds among fighting game aficionados.
In it, one player is able to establish an advantage over his opponent through consistent play and tight execution. But one wrong move around the 0:55 mark is all it takes to turn the tables completely.
Just like that, one character performing one combo equates to three opposing characters vanquished. Such is life as an Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournament player.
Whatever you might think of sequences like this, they may not be around for much longer. Marvel has made it clear that they have no interest in continuing on with the fighting game franchise in partnership with Capcom, even going so far as to have digital editions of this latest game pulled from some online outlets.
The reason for this move was made clear when Marvel announced their own fighting game, Contest of Champions, which is being developed by Kabam. And Kabam’s history of producing such titles as Dragons of Atlantis hasn’t expired much confidence among fighting game fans.
