The stakes have never been higher in Fortnite: Battle Royale—the Getaway limited time mode and challenges have now gone live with update 5.40

Announced over the weekend at PAX West, High Stakes brings a heist theme to the world of Fortnite—and this is most apparent in the new LTM.

In Getaway mode, teams of four will battle for four rare jewels that will land throughout the map in supply drops, along with four getaway vans. Four teams must capture the jewels and make it to the getaway vans and escape, which means there are four winners.

In the mode, resource harvesting amounts have been increased by 50 percent, but items like rifts, Rifts-to-Go, and launch pads have been removed to reduce mobility. Only Rare and higher weapons are found in the mode, as well.

A big part of Getaway is the Grappler, the new mobility item. With it, you fire at a nearby object to pull yourself toward it, allowing you to traverse high and low with ease. It’s found in vending machines, floor loot, treasure chests, supply drops, and supply llamas.

In other quality of life changes, the Revolver has been vaulted, but some other weapon varieties are also gone—including the common suppressed SMG, rare rocket launcher, legendary bolt-action sniper rifle, and rare pistol. The burst assault rifle got some pretty nice accuracy buffs, too. And when the storm reaches its destination, it will cause a surge of energy that destroys player-built structures located on the storm wall.

You can try all of the above in update 5.40 today, and check out the full list of patch notes on Epic Games’ website.
