Everything you need to know about Fortnite: Battle Royale’s All-Terrain Kart skins

Apparently, they're coming.
This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

It looks like Fortnite: Battle Royale’s All-Terrain Karts may be receiving their own skins soon enough. A datamined post reveals that Epic Games is cooking some cosmetics up for Fortnite’s vehicles. With technically only one vehicle added to the game, it seems likely the All-Terrain Kart is the feature’s intended target.

As for when these skins will drop, how many there will be, and if more vehicles than the All-Terrain Kart will be included, time will tell. But for now, here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite: Battle Royale’s upcoming vehicle skins.

Are vehicle decorations actually coming?

So far it seems likely. Popular Fortnite datamine and leak poster Fortnite: Battle Royale Leaks posted an excerpt from the game’s internal files on July 16, revealing that a folder named “VehicleDecorations” was added into Fortnite’s “Cosmetic” directory.

Inside the folder, Fortnite: Battle Royale Leaks found a file named “VID_000_TestDeco” which points to two new files called “Llama” and “Llama.Llama.” Supposedly, those both indicate that some kind of Llama skin is in development for the All-Terrain Kart.

“Vehicle Decorations aka Golf Cart (ATK) Customization may come soon,” the account tweeted on July 16. “Looks like Epic is testing they’re [sic] first decoration with a Llama Mesh (Model).”

That means Epic has been developing some kind of cosmetic feature for Fortnite’s vehicles. And unless you include the Shopping Cart as a vehicle, that means only the All-Terrain Kart could possibly receive a skin in the near future.

What can we expect when vehicle decorations supposedly drop?

Good question. It’s hard to say for certain until more information about vehicle customizations come out. However, it seems likely that Epic Games is planning some kind of skin for Fortnite’s All-Terrain Kart, as it’s the first major vehicle implemented in the game. Because All-Terrain Karts were just introduced this season, it’s likely that Epic will drop the new cosmetic features before Season 5 ends on Sept. 17, 2018.

Beyond that, it’s unclear for now whether players will have to unlock the first few skins or purchase them from the Item Shop. Either way, expect to apply the skin to change up your Kart’s appearance once you enter it or drive around in it.

It also seems likely that All-Terrain Karts aren’t the only vehicles coming to Fortnite. Notice how the folder’s directory is called “VehicleDecorations” and not “KartDecorations” or “ATKDecorations?” On Epic’s part, this seems to suggest that more vehicles of some kind will be included in Fortnite: Battle Royale as time goes on.

What those vehicles will look like remains a mystery. For all we know, Epic may eventually add boats, motorcycles, and helicopters into the game. But for before you can cross the map in trains, planes and automobiles, expect to trick out your All-Terrain Karts with a skin of some kind down the road, even if it’s just a Llama.
