A fighting game’s roster is arguably the most important part of the game, right up there with the gameplay and visuals. Capcom has put a heavy emphasis on that starting lineup with Street Fighter 6—adding a little bit of something for everyone from day one.
Even before the DLC starts coming down the pipeline over the next year and beyond, there is no shortage of character options for you to test out and find something that fits your style.
From the initial reveal to the launch, Capcom was very open about how it was approaching the roster for SF6. Ryu and Luke started the show, with a mix of classic, returning, and newcomer fighters following soon after to create a stellar roster of 18 characters.
Street Fighter 6: Full roster and DLC list
Capcom confirmed the full 18-character base roster for Street Fighter 6 more than half a year before the game launched. This included 12 returning fighters and six newcomers making their debut in the latest installment of the franchise.

You won’t need to unlock any of these characters when you start playing the game or hop online. The only fighters locked to any new players will be DLC characters added post-launch, which will be part of the Year One Character Pass—a separate purchase unless you nabbed the Deluxe or Ultimate Editions of SF6.
