Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was revealed at the start of the year and, since E3, Nintendo has been steadily revealing new characters that are joining the ever-growing roster.
Isabelle, the plucky secretary from the Animal Crossing series, was recently revealed as the 68th new fighter (or over 70th if you include Echo fighters) but this might be the last character we will see revealed for the game for quite awhile.
The game’s director, Masahiro Sakurai, has announced in his weekly Famitsu column that the team will be slowing down reveals of new characters moving forward. Sakurai also revealed that the game is nearly completed.
So far, we have seen nine new characters revealed for the roster including Inkling, Daisy, Ridley, Simon Belmont, Richter Belmont, King K. Rool, Isabelle, Chrom, and Dark Samus. Five of the nine are brand new characters while the other four are Echo Fighters (aka. clone characters.)
The announcement doesn’t mean that the game won’t have new characters to show off, however, it just means that the new character announcements that we have been getting every month, or every couple of months, will be scaled down.
