When does Overwatch’s Summer Games event end?

The Summer Games event returned for a third year.
This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Overwatch’s 2018 Summer Games began last week, bringing back the seasonal event for the third time. As always, Blizzard introduced a bunch of new skins inspired by summer flair. A new Lúcioball map based in Busan, South Korea was also added to Overwatch with the new iteration of the event. The beloved Summer Games event can’t last forever, though. It’ll stay on the live server until Aug. 30. Shortly after that date, Blizzard will take away the event and its contents, and we’ll be left longing for summer for another year. Related: Overwatch’s 2018 Summer Games have begun During the event, old Summer Games skins are available for a discounted price. But players don’t have to pay for old cosmetics, either: All of them are unlockable in Overwatch’s Summer Games loot boxes, if you’re lucky enough to get them. As for the new Summer Games skins, most of which are legendary-ranked, those are available in loot boxes, too. Otherwise, they’ll cost 3,000 Overwatch credits—so start saving up. A Copa Lúcioball season is also ongoing, offering Overwatch players a more competitive experience for the game mode. Players that complete their placement matches by the time Summer Games ends will earn special rewards for their dedication. So get out your swimwear and your soccer cleats, there’s a lot of Overwatch to be played before the event ends on Aug. 30. If you miss out, you’ll probably have to wait until the Summer Games come around again next year—unless Blizzard does any special anniversary events that offer up the old Summer Games skins.
