Xûr, Destiny 2’s most beloved squid-faced peddler and mysterious Agent of the Nine, appears every weekend to sell Exotic items and Legendary weapons to guardians all over Sol in Destiny 2.
He doesn’t have his own kiosk somewhere where you can buy potentially fishy goods, even if you see him on Eternity looking over the Dares of Eternity. Instead, he appears in one of his three favorite locations every weekend, showing up at reset on Friday and disappearing with the weekly reset.

Location: Winding Cove, EDZ
From the Winding Cove landing zone, head north towards the cliffside. Near a downed Fallen cache up on the top of the cliffs, Xur will be waiting for you.

Once again we’ve got a mixed bag of items here. Prometheus Lens is a great addition if you don’t own it already; aside from the Lazer Tag memes, the buff it received in Beyond Light to allow the weapon to apply Scorch makes it an add-clearing beast and combos well with Solar builds.
For the weapons, you’ll definitely want that Tarnished Mettle with Rapid Hit and Voltshot as well as the Gridskipper for Crucible. Otherwise, Warlocks should definitely look into the Getaway Artist roll; even though it’s missing Resilience, it’s very well-rounded stat-wise.
Stock up on Exotic Ciphers while you can as The Final Shape will introduce a new system for acquiring past Exotic gear, and Ciphers will be a little tougher to find.
Xenology Quest: What is it?
In addition to his regular inventory, Xur also carries a quest called Xenology, which awards players with an Exotic Cipher after completing its requirements. It’s a straightforward mission, but it can be time-consuming.
To finish Xenology, players must complete 21 strikes or win 21 matches in Crucible and/or Gambit. Progress moves faster by doing those activities with clanmates or at higher difficulties. The mission awards one Exotic Cipher and doesn’t have to be completed within the same week of obtaining it—although you can’t turn it in and get another shot at the quest in the same week.
A big pain point with the Xenology quest, however, is that it only takes ritual activities into account, and these activities have gotten relatively stale for veterans over the past few years. Players have suggested this mission should also count for seasonal activities, which have more incentive. We’re undoubtedly far more prone to running those than to dive into a Strike or a Crucible match, for instance.
