If you’ve ever wondered why Tristana is such a feared late game champion, look no further than LMQ’s decimation of Counter Logic Gaming in the League Championship Series yesterday.
Peter “DoubleLift” Peng himself, marksman of Counter Logic Gaming, predicted that the recent 4.10 patch and its nerf to mid-game marksmen would usher in the rise of late game destroyers like Tristana, whose ridiculous scaling afforded by her range-increasing passive and attack speed boosting Rapid Fire makes her nearly unstoppable after reaching a certain point in the game. LMQ and marskman Li “Vasilii” Wei-Jun confirmed Peng’s prediction as Li used Tristana to wreck Counter Logic Gaming.
Li finished the match with a 12/2/5 KDA line, posting two triple kills that took advantage of every part of Tristana’s kit.
The first triple came after Counter Logic Gaming had caught out an LMQ weak and retreating from a fight at Dragon. Li turned the battle around, blasting two enemies with his ultimate Buster Shot before jumping over the brush to secure the third kill on Peng.
The second triple ended the game. LMQ engaged Counter Logic Gaming after baiting Baron, setting up Li for a rampage.
Li was “bunny hopping back and forth, goomba stomping everybody,” according to commentator David “Phreak” Turley, who labeled Vasilii “Mario” after his three jumps secured three kills.
The victory boosted LMQ to 10-7, stopping a two game slide that dropped the Chines team from a tie for first place. It also stopped a two-game win streak by Counter Logic Gaming, keeping them out of sole possession of the top spot in the standings.
